On Monday, May 26, 2025, the Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations in Telangana witnessed a significant absentee rate, with nearly 16,000 students failing to appear for their scheduled exams. The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) reported that out of 130,925 students registered for the Physics-I and Economics-I papers, only 119,634 attended, resulting in 11,291 absentees. Similarly, for the Physics-II and Economics-II papers, 48,047 students had registered, but only 43,387 appeared, leaving 4,660 absent.
In addition to the high absenteeism, the examinations were marred by instances of malpractice. A total of 27 cases were booked across various districts. During the first session, 14 cases were reported—six in Jagtial and eight in Mahabubabad. The second session saw 13 cases, with five in Warangal, three each in Medak and Karimnagar, and two in Nagarkurnool.
Despite these challenges, the TSBIE stated that the examinations were conducted smoothly and peacefully, without any untoward incidents.
The Board has been vigilant in monitoring examination centers to uphold the integrity of the examination process. Measures include deploying observers and flying squads to deter and detect any irregularities.
The high number of absentees and malpractice cases underscore the ongoing challenges faced by the education system in ensuring fair and effective assessments. The TSBIE continues to emphasize the importance of adherence to examination protocols and is committed to taking necessary actions against violations.
