Hyderabad: A 65-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident after a car allegedly being driven by a minor collided with a scooter in Hyderabad's Yousufguda area on Sunday morning. The impact of the crash left another person injured and has once again raised concerns over underage driving in the city.
According to police, the accident took place at around 9:45 am in Karmik Nagar. The elderly victim was travelling on a scooter with another rider when a car, reportedly moving at high speed, rammed into the two-wheeler. The force of the collision threw both riders onto the road, causing severe injuries.
Local residents and passers-by immediately rushed the victims to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared the 65-year-old man dead while he was undergoing treatment. The second victim is receiving medical care, and officials said his condition is being monitored.
CCTV footage of the incident, which has since surfaced on social media, reportedly captures the speeding vehicle entering the narrow lane before crashing into the scooter. The visuals have intensified public concern over reckless driving and traffic safety in residential neighbourhoods.
Police investigation revealed that the vehicle was allegedly being driven by a 17-year-old boy at the time of the accident. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings and are examining how the minor gained access to the car, along with the responsibility of the vehicle owner.
A case has been registered, and investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting witness statements to establish the complete sequence of events. Officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by underage driving and overspeeding, with citizens urging stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies.
