The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader, Chandrababu Naidu, was apprehended following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), as confirmed by the party.
The notice categorically stated that the charges against Chandrababu Naidu are of a non-bailable nature, implying that he can only seek bail through legal proceedings. During the course of his arrest, a minor altercation occurred between TDP supporters and law enforcement officers.
TDP officials strongly criticized the timing of this late-night action against their senior leader. Furthermore, there were reports of some TDP members being taken into custody by the police.
Just a few days prior to his arrest, Naidu had expressed concerns about the possibility of his arrest, asserting, "They may even resort to attacking me. They won't stop at one injustice; they will perpetrate numerous acts of aggression," while pointing a finger at the YSRCP government.
