PM Modi inaugurates Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway, calls it a gift to Karnataka

The Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, a 119-kilometer fully-access controlled road, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a public meeting in the Mandya district. The Prime Minister dedicated this long-awaited road to the nation, describing it as a gift to the people of Karnataka. During the event, PM Modi expressed his pride in working for the development of Karnataka and noted that the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway will make commuting between the two cities much easier.

The expressway was built in two phases, with a 58-kilometer stretch between Bengaluru-Nidaghatta and a 61-kilometer stretch between Nidaghatta-Mysuru. It was constructed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, the Government of India's flagship program, at a cost of Rs. 8,480 crores. The project includes 11 overpasses, 64 underpasses, five bypasses, and 42 small bridges, with full access control. The expressway also features six lanes and additional two-lane service roads on both sides.

The Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities to 75 minutes, a significant improvement from the previous three hours. In addition, Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Mysuru-Kushal Nagar highway during the event.
