Lalu Prasad Yadav Expels Son Tej Pratap from RJD and Family

Patna — In a dramatic political and familial development, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has expelled his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from both the party and the family for a period of six years.  The decision follows Tej Pratap's controversial social media post admitting to a 12-year relationship outside his marriage, although he later claimed his account was hacked.

Lalu Prasad Yadav cited his son's actions as inconsistent with the moral and family values upheld by the RJD, noting that such behavior undermines the party's mission for social justice.  In a statement, he emphasized that Tej Pratap would have no association with the party or the family moving forward.

Tej Pratap Yadav, 37, a sitting MLA from Hassanpur, has been a contentious figure within the RJD, often clashing with party leadership and his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav.  His recent actions have further strained relationships within the party and the Yadav family.

The expulsion comes at a critical time, with Bihar assembly elections on the horizon.  Political analysts suggest that this move aims to consolidate support around Tejashwi Yadav, the party's chief ministerial candidate, and to present a unified front to the electorate.

Tejashwi Yadav has maintained that indiscipline cannot be tolerated within the party, stating, "We work for the state. Private and public life are different. Tej Pratap is independent to take his calls. He is an adult and can make his own decisions. Our party chief has decided, and we do not raise any questions."

The RJD's chief spokesperson, Shakti Singh Yadav, reiterated the party's commitment to social justice and discipline, emphasizing that irresponsible behavior by any party leader or cadre would not be tolerated.

This expulsion marks a significant shift in the RJD's internal dynamics and could have substantial implications for the party's performance in the upcoming elections.  It also underscores the challenges of managing familial relationships within political organizations.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Tej Pratap Yadav will respond to his expulsion and what impact this will have on the RJD's electoral prospects.
